tiki obmar was formed in late 2000 by chris smalley and brett bullion. graham joined in a bit after that. they played alot and recorded some too, and dabbled in the art of touring, all the while having a good time. in august 2004 tiki stopped being a band. now there are new things. ::

hello! long time no blog. hmmm whats been going on, been doing alot of rehearsals and writing with the few nice words (matt foust ev olcott graham & me) and with general ben (luke hillestad me graham) and this weds im getting together with chris morressy (mason jennings,bill mike full throttle band) and my other friend chris baker (maxmspjitter visuals stuff) to work on a few tunes... today i hung out with a great drummer named noah levy, he is cool and inspiring and does alot of playing.. so its a busy music week and that is good! oh, and i got a new ride cymbal. shes gorgeous!

ahhhh, there comes a time in a young man's life when goes from boy to man. that event my friends happened last night. the event im talking about is of course my first time.....seeing blade runner. amazing film. says so much about technology and where humanity is headed with it and the scary thing is it was made in 1982 and looks pretty damn good still. im a sucker for the "lonersemicyberpunkbadass" main character (which harrison ford sets the bar for those to come ie. neo etc) plus he likes noodles. im thinking about naming a band "deckard" but i guess its stereotypical for electronic bands to have something to do with bladerunner. hmm nevermind i just googled it and its some swedish metal band on reprise records.... anywhos, today i chatted with jeremy ylvisaker (guitar player from the fog and excellent producer/studiowiz) he gave me some good advice about mics and preamps and got me all worked up and inspired. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm k bye

yeeeehawww! been busy. recording a few bands, playing a few gigs here and there, and recording alot of new ideas ive had for electronic stuff which is interesting cause i havent made anything "electronic" in a while..... anyways, tonight i saw jt bates, anthony cox and chris thomson play at the clown lounge it was very inspiring. im going to try and get some lessons from this mpls drummer i met tonight and i am excited to be learning and playing and excited about being excited..!!! in website news, there will be a new website for general ben soon hopefully and another site for this electronic idea but for now everything is still flirting around and no ideas are married yet! casual music i guess! ;) my friend huntley miller's (cepia) record comes out on the super awesome label ghostly this september so yuo all should check it out! www.ghostly.com
