Just a comment about the bench at 16th and Hennepin (as this is my "hood"). Perhaps the bus company should also remove the list of route numbers next to the bench that is not a bus stop. Also, the notices about the downtown zone expanding were posted in two places -- next to the bench and at the bus shelter. So perhaps crabby bus drivers shouldn't yell at confused passengers who mistake the bench as an appropriate waiting area. [ed - Yes, they absolutely should. Unfortunately the lines of communication between the state transit workers who are told to put a certain sign at a certain corner and the minneapolis city planners who decide to open, close, and move a stop aren't very great. And nobody's yelling at anybody, so relax.]

Preach it, brother! You're right. 16th and Hennepin is especially bad for the waiting-by-the-bench syndrome. I like to get over left as soon as I can after that stop and if someone's standing by the bench, I assume they're crossing the street. But I can also understand the problem, since that stop got moved back not all that long ago. I explained the move to one older woman who got mad at me...
And I still hate the stroller policy, but I'm still enforcing it and getting cursed out as a result. It's kind of a game now.
