Pedro the Lion broke up (and stuff about books)

BookSense for what your local indie stores stock.

the u of m bookstore is actually really good.

it's not just books either. mpls doesn't have enough non-corporate shops all around. books, clothes, resturants. coffee shops is one of the only exceptions.

ryan:

i'd disagree with you on restaurants. although there's not enough restaurants in general in the neighborhoods, at least ones where you can get slightly cheap food and a beer (the blb was packed out the door the other day).

we're doing better on clothes, but you're right, it still sucks. i got a shirt from design collective for christmas. that place rules. there's been 4 or 5 new quality boutiques that opened since you moved, which is a good start.

i went to magers and quinn and they carry more new books than they used to. it's a small area, but they have a pretty quality selection

boston turned me down for two jobs I applied for (sad face)

try changing your name to o'pitman or pitmanorelli. you've got to be italian or irish (or some combo of at least two minorites: i.e. near-sighted asian woman) to get public jobs here or in nyc.

The resturants in minneapolis are alright i guess. I'm just spoiled. I haven't had to eat corporate food since last august (and that was because someone sent a giftcard).

Chris D.:

"Corporate food"? As opposed to what? Apples that cost 12 bucks a pound from the co-op?

ryan:

you ever been to a co-op or did you just hear that from bill oreilly OH BURN WHAT NOW HUH

um.. olive garden, cheesecake factory, et cetra where they just reheat food. it's just expensive fast food as far as i'm concerned.

I don't like to eat anywhere where the owners family name isn't above the door if I can avoid it.

ps. markets are usually far cheaper then grocery stores. I also don't like to buy food that hasn't been killed in front of me.
