we'll probably be in one or the other (boston or NY) for quite a while still. We'll be in boston at least through summer of 2007 (although Jessica will be in Ho Chi Minh City for part of that.) After that we've got to do grad school, and NY, SF, Chicago and Portland (NY, SF and Chicago are the best for Sociology, NY, SF and Portland are the best for Planning) are the most likely American cities that we'll end up in. Other then that, maybe Van, Toronto, Montreal, Milan or Hamburg.
Part of the work Jessica just did was with one of the deans from Rutdgers though, and sometimes Grad school is less about where you want to go and more about who'll give you money and lecturer positions. So I'd think that would make NY more likely. (it's in New Brunswick, NJ, but we'd live in NY and she'd commute). I could go to NYU or New School.
You forgot to put LA, Phoenix and SD on your list, don't you want to live there?

heh. SD actually isn't that bad. It's got a nice rapid transit system and is fairly dense in the core where the hills are.
