I’m not a film buff, so take this with a grain of salt. I haven’t seen many more movies than this, so consider that too. But this has been a pretty good year for movies. Like that one dude in the City Pages said/2004 wasn’t a good year for great movies, but a great year for good movies. By which i mean to say I don’t usually see enough good movies in a year to make even a top 2 list, but this year, even if they’re completely fabulous, they’re all really good in my opinion, and there were enough to make a short list.

On the good films that I'll never need to see again go: Birth and Kinsey.
On the completely and utterly sucky list goes Blade 3 (i had free tickets, what could i do?) and Danny Deckchair (again, passes)

Shaun of the Dead and The Village were good too, by the way. However, I think Shaun of the dead was technically last year.

Wow, I'm suprised there are some takers for "The Village". A very, very good, underrated movie. I also found "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Garden State" enjoyable, which is strange given that I don't usually like independent, art-house crap.

hehe napoleon dynamite! forgot that one. hmmmm might give coffee and cigarettes a run for it's money.
garden state is as independant art house as the shins are.

Okay, maybe not "art house" but it was an independent movie. You know what I mean.

I don't know, I really liked coffee and cigarettes. I guess I would have to watch napoleon dynamite again.

but natalie portman was in it. doesn't that make it ok in the book of dugan? or is that more like 1999 and not the case anymore. (btw, why did natalie portman hook up with ray romano?)

Natalie Portman was good in it, but I liked the movie for more than just that. Jeez, how shallow do you think I am Ryan?
