Good ol' Nicollet
I picked up our friend Heidi today. I suppose, since I have weekends off and was out sick on Monday and Tuesday, that makes two straight days that I picked up somebody I know. Pretty hot.
I picked new work for the summer operator's choice. I lost the weekend. Oh well, one more summer of missing the Game of the Week. I'll be spending a lot more time on the 18 line, which is fine with me. All the cool kids ride 18 anyway. I thought about picking what CJ got, but i decided I'd rather do one-piece shifts and spend more time with Eliot and the wife. I can wait for morning work.
Tuesday - Friday: 18 line 2pm to 7pm, 11 line 7pm to 10:30pm.
Saturdays : 18 line 10am to 6pm.
Has anybody ever actually compared stats for Torii Hunter and Kirby Puckett? I've always had a feeling that Kirby never deserved to belong in the same hemisphere as the Hall of Fame, but when you lay it out, it's pretty shocking. Torii's got no chance at joining the hall, but he has homered more often and stolen bases more frequently than Kirby did, and they walked the exact same amount. The only difference is Kirby averaged 8 more hits per month than Torii and struck out about twice per month less often. That Kirby's in and Blyleven isn't is more a mockery of baseball than Barry Bonds and his taking over Babe Ruth. Of course, so is Bartolo Colon's Cy Young.

Doesn't that argument put Lew Ford in the hall?
I'm not saying he was a bad player, he was a great player for sure. He did a little of everything. But nowhere near the best. And where's Bert?

I think Puck deserved to be in the hall. It clearly isn't just about the numbers (Pete Rose anybody?) it's about how important a given player is to his team and how he represents the game of baseball (personal life notwithstanding). Puck was a waaaaay better pure hitter than Torii will ever be—a lifetime .318 hitter iif i'm not mistaken. Plus the man was clutch. He may "only" have hit 25 home runs in the average season but is seemed like every last one counted. He was the kind of player that you just knew was going to come through, and more often than not he did. That's why he deserves the hall more than anything.
Torii is definately more athletic and arguably a better defensive player though.
