I finally made it
After five years and three months driving bus, as they say [why they don't include the 'the', i do not know], I've finally arrived. Not only am I no longer making less than the full wage, but today, for the first time ever, I was able to actually pick weekends off. I've had them before, but it was on the extra board, which changed weekly, or it was filling for senior drivers while they were on vacation. No, this is something completely different. So here's what I'll be driving for twelve weeks starting in March:
Mon: 3pm to 12am, on the 6
Tue: 3pm to 12am, on the 6
Wed: 3:30pm to 12am, on the 6
Thu: 3pm to 12am, on the 6
Fri: 3pm to 12am, on the 11 and the 4
I wonder if it's possible to tire of the 6 bus. I guess I'll see. I could have taken my desert island days off, friday and saturday, but i didn't like any of the work on sunday, and the friday shift that i ended up with involves making relief two blocks from my house. Two blocks!.
So Bethany's going to go back to work 8 hours per week starting in March, so I'll have a little regular daddy/baby time on Saturday mornings. I wonder what we'll do. What's a good age to take your kid to the Walker on a free day?

of COURSE!
I dunno. I think art is like jazz...you need to ease into it. You might be best off starting with the Art Institute (which is free anyway) and then make a big deal about, "OK eliot, you're three now, you're finally big enough to go to the Walker!"
actually man,
if you're up for it and eliot could handle it, I'd love to go to the afordable housing design exhibit at the Weisman while I'm in town.
"on the 6"!?! are you trying to be j-lo?
heh-heh.
