My emotions seem to hang on the weather. When it's overcast I just want to go home. When it's sunny, there can't be many better places to be than the streets of St. Petersburg. Saturday was a big day out for me. Kim and I spent a lot of time just walking around the city. We did hit up a few museums, but it was nice to just walk around one of Petersburg's older neighborhoods, Petrogradskaya. Petrogradskaya used to be the working class/slum of Petersburg but now is one of the more fashionable places to live. I like the neighborhood because of it's mixture of fashionable, old-world European architecture and industrial decay (my favorite example being the graveyard for old trams). It's probably my favorite area and, if I had my way, I'd live there.
I have less than two weeks left here. It's pretty crazy to think that two weeks from now I'll be back in my old room and seeing friends and riding my bike again...and going to Twins games. I'm already starting to plan a short camping/fishing trip if anyone wants to join me.
The motivation to go to class is waning a little bit. I've been really diligent for the last four months and I don't have much to motivate me other than the desire to do as well as I can...which is often enough to get me going. But still, with the weather the way it is and so much of the city left to be seen, it's tempting to turn off the alarm. Well, we'll slog through it.
I'll try to get some pictures up before I come home.
