And the sun rises once again....

Well, I finally voted. It's been five years since I've been eligible, but I voted. And I feel pleased to have voted for people who I genuinely liked...for a change. It's kind of wierd because I knew, as I was casting my ballot, that NONE of the people I voted for would get elected. Strangely, I didn't particularly seem to care. I think part of me was even so misguided as to think one of my people MIGHT be elected. It's ok. I have long since accepted the fact that I:00 AM doomed to the political fringe and that no major party would ever embrace me. Not under the current system anyway, but that's another post that I already wrote two years ago.

I have to admit, I was surprised to see Pawlenty pull away with a victory. I was even more surprised to see how badly Klobuchar clobbered Kennedy. I didn't vote for either of them. I don't have much of a problem with having a Muslim in Congress. It might even be helpful. He doesn't strike me as the violent type. Not like it matters since it's not my district and I didn't vote for a representative anyway. Well, maybe now the Dems will get their act together and come up with some sort of platform that isn't based on a "not Bush" philosophy...and Joe Lieberman getting beaten in the primaries and then winning as an Independent? Heck, yeah!

Dear Peter Hutchinson and Robert Fitzgerald, please run again. We need you out there. Peter, you're probably the only reason I even showed up at the polls yesterday.

I hardly voted for anyone who won on Tuesday and that is a hard thing to say when one lives in MA where the Dems swept everything, and I:00 AM much more liberal than anything else... My choice for governor got 2% of the vote I think. So I understand where you are coming from, but I'm glad you voted anyway.

I'm wondering a little why you said, "he doesn't strike me as the violent type," to describe the new Muslim rep. Was that something people brought up in negative ads?

No, but think: the first Muslim representative. There's gotta be a handful of people who are afraid that terrorism has infiltrated Congress.
